Interested in facilitating a training?
Community Solutions is seeking individuals and providers to deliver sessions for the Accelerator Initiative Monthly Training Series.
...
The focus of the training series is on developing leadership traits and capabilities with a strong reference to the Accelerator Initiative vision and goals:
-
The Accelerator Initiative envisions a community where grassroots leaders are resourced and supported in their efforts to imagine beyond what-has-been-done-before to create programs that are responsive in their communities.
-
Accelerator Initiative seeks to strengthen the network of grassroots groups by building resources, connection, engagement, and trust among grassroots organizations and institutional leaders.
Brief Background
Accelerator was created by the Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA) using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds designated through HEA1001. DMHA has contracted the management of Accelerator to Community Solutions, an Indianapolis-based community development consulting company.
Accelerator is guided by the knowledge that grassroots organizations are more powerful when they are adequately resourced and are creatively structured to grow and sustain. To understand the philosophy, goals, and implementation phases, please visit the About Accelerator page.
Training Series
The training series runs from June 2023-December 2024. Each monthly training session will last 2-hours and will be hosted via Zoom. We are seeking trainers for the following topics. Below you will find the topic, with a sample content description for general guidance.
Facilitative Leadership
This session will focus on leadership for community-level and systems change. Grantees will learn the essentials of facilitative leadership practice – including designing effective meetings, engaging relevant stakeholders, and collaborative problem solving. Grantees will have an opportunity to create an action plan for a relevant project meeting.
Story - Strategic Narrative for Funding
This session will focus on story as a central piece to funding strategy, including grant writing and marketing. Grantees will learn how to develop a strong narrative for their work to support them in identifying aligned funding sources. Grantees will learn how strong narratives can help shepherd collaborative partnerships, influence grantmaking, while also staying true to organizational vision and values.
Innovative Organizational Structures
This conversation will focus on the growing number of innovative organizational structures for social change. Grantees will learn about hybrid organizations and various forms of nonprofit structures – those with 501(c)(3) designation, without IRS designation, and those with fee-based structures (including anti-oppressive fee structures). Grantees will have the opportunity to imagine outside of the box, as they reflect on their long-term goals for organizational sustainability.
We welcome interested trainers to share their take on the topic and how they might design the session. Each session should include a focused presentation on the particular topic with sufficient time allocated for grantees engagement and application related to the topic.
